LA3_b - ideas from the questions suggested by LF - feedback would be grateful

Was the chosen space suitable for the message and potential audience?
yes - as it was not too big to make it overwhelming for the audience to read. The target audience (LF and researchers) all have Plone VLE.
were there any ethical issues?
yes - not able to put peoples names on Plone unless permission has been granted. putting my school's website as a external link
Did you face any technical challenge
yes - uploading photograph. thankfully i had great support from other researcher and now can add photo (take a look!!) also uploading links and sorting out the presentation of my homepage
i have not written my learning journal for a while as have been very busy with work, family and Christmas. I did write a large reflection on the reading and my general thoughts however it would not upload - was not happy :-( hopefully (fingers crossed) this will upload.
Reflection on the reading for module 2
the tools of online connection - this was very useful and helped me greatly with LA1_b and with meriting three online tools. it was easy to read and clear to understand.
Online Interaction Tools Resource Sheet - this was not as useful as the first reading but did allow me to understand how the online tools work.
overall the reading has greatly contributed to my learning and development for module 2
it also allowed me to develop my ICT terminology and discover new website tools.

I have received my results from Module one which i am very pleased with. this has now spurred me on with module 2. I have nearly finished LA1 but seem to have too many words I may need to change some of it. I have created a table for LA2 and now need to add my comments to it. Looking at LA2 it states make a new page(Plone) with a movie guide here. I'm not sure what this means.
I'm still having trouble adding a picture of myself to my homepage in plone. I can upload a picture but it is too big. I have tried resizing but it didn't work. I've decided to try taking another one and edit it before saving. lets hope this work.
I emailed my LF about making a web space in FC on Wednesday. She replied saying she was off to a funeral and would email later that day, still haven't heard. Should I email again or go with my instincts?
I think i need to get on further with my LA's so i will write again shortly.
The online tools I have used to communicate with peers at Ultraversity are:

Email - This is fast, easy to use, inexpensive and effective way of delivering a message. A message can be sent to an individual or to several people at the same time.

Blog - Blog is short for web log. It is a journal of comments, thoughts and ideas which is published in chronological order and frequently updated. It can be an effective communication tool for small groups of people to keep in touch with each other.

Instant messaging - It allows members to see who is online. Instant messages are sent in real time making it a faster way to communicate than email. Chats can be between two individuals or with a larger number.

Hotseat
- This is a question and answer tool. An expert answers questions members have on a particular subject.

Bulletin/Discussion boards
- Most are text based online forum or conference where posted comments are published in chronological order. Responses to specific post have a threaded application to allow for comments to be viewed one after each other.

Frappr -It is a 'Friend Mapper' This is a website which shows the locations of members on a map.

On Friday it was announced on the radio that the schooling system in Suffolk will no longer be three tier. This means in the future I may have to apply for a new job in a new location as there will be no middle schools. Primary schools will be larger as will upper schools so they will need new accommodation as they are not bigger enough at present. I feel we should not have heard this news via the radio and all staff should have been informed of the decision, as it will effect our jobs.

What have i been doing since i last wrote?
Replying to emails in FC from other members.
Decided to re-read Mod 2.
Searched the web for information on VLE.
Continuing to write LA1.
Making a list of online tools I have used.

I have been sat at this computer since 4.30pm it is now 11.30pm. what have i been doing? I have been trying to understand Mod 2 and have began to write LA1 but not happy with it yet. I have worked out how to add external links to my plone page and have added this blog address and schools website.
I was involved in a big discuss on FC I think at one point 17 people were taking part. Thanks to Jessica this was soon sorted as she started another chat and some people from ours were invite to take part in that one. Too many in a chat just makes it chaotic. i think there needs to be a system ie put the person initials at the begin of your answer to a question because it's hard to follow the conversation. From this discussion we decide to look at each other resume and homepage and leave feedback in FC.
After this Ann and I chatted on our own. Ann has been a great support to me and has helped me understand this module if your reading this Ann Thank You!
I am now beginning to feel more confident with having conversations and feel i am starting to build a rapport with others in C6. Everyone seems so nice, supportive and friendly.
I now have got to work out how to upload pictures onto plone. I tried resizing but it still didn't work I'll try again tomorrow. need to go and have a rest my back is aching sitting in this chair.

I know i haven't written for a while but have been very busy finishing my portfolio and Module 1. Now working on mod 2 but don't seem to be getting anywhere. I finished Mod 1 a week before it was due in and couldn't look at it any more once i had uploaded it onto my assessment folder. I then felt i needed a couple of days break from the computer. At the moment i am trying to sort out my homepage on plone. Ann has given me lots of help with this but at times i feel very frustrated with it as it doesn't seem to do what i want it to. On Saturday i was invited to chat with some others from C6. This was my first time of talking to several people at once. I was feeling very nervous but at the same time i felt excited. I felt everyone was supportive and i was beginning to build a rapport with them (Thank you for inviting me). This eveing i was chatting with Ann when we were both invited to join in with some others from C6 I didn't feel as nervous this time.i now need to keep this blog up to date so i will try to write everyday or at least once a week.

07.10.06
I attended my first of 5 sessions on a portfolio course with Elklan speech and language. This is the second part as I completed the first 10 week course in Oct 2004. This time I will be focusing on children with Autism (ASD). I have just finished writing up this weeks tasks. I had to observe a child against a check list for communication, social interaction and imagination. Then I had to describe ways in which to help this child with areas of concern. I'm feeling a bit stressed doing this work and my Uni work. There doesn't feel enough time in the day. Hope I will be able to keep up? I agree to the Elklan course before applying to the Uni and as it is part of my personal development I feel I will have to complete it.

This week at work I have attended a TA meeting about CRB checks and bought in all the information needed.
Met with SEN staff and discussed tabletimes, feed back on meeting with Governor and areas of concern.
Watched a signed performance by Krazy Kats. Very entertaining!

I've been very busy this week both at work and at home, with keeping up to date with the conversations on First Class (FC) and deciding on what to include in my first individual learning plan. (ILP) I think I might need to change things as I work through the activities for module 1. With negotiation with my LF I am hoping this is possible. I read in FC that it is a living document. I have been keeping a written diary of the events/meeting at work this week. Next week I will think how to use this in activity 1. I need to keep checking against the Intended learning outcomes(ILO) and level 1 assessment criteria. I think I might need to make more comments in FC. I will try to make more effort but I do find this difficult as I feel people may think my comments are silly.

This week at work I've supported Jill with the new interactive white board in the classroom.
Stayed for 2 hours after work supporting KS1 teachers with writing IEP's.
Had a meeting with KS1/2 about SEN children being entered for Audit in Nov.

I've been keeping a daily diary this week of events at work so I can then write up my first activity for module 1 of my degree. I've been finding my way around first class and even talking to people on-line. I've never done that before! I've had some great conversation with Ann. She works in a secondary school as a HLTA and only lives 20 miles down the road. We have also spoken to each other on the phone. I'm still feeling nervous but at the same time I'm enjoying the experience. Ann said I should have ago at downloading a photo of my self into first class so she can see what I look like. I shall have ago at this at the weekend. Its late again! been working on the computer now for 4 hours but still haven't wrote anything for activity 1. It's knowing where to start!!

Thanks Oli for your message. My Learning facilitator(LF) rang me today (21.09.06)
I'm still feeling a little nervous by it all. I have manged to get into first class and Plone. I'm still unsure about some things but my LF said she wanted me just to absorb everything and not to worry. Not as easy as it may sound. I have been sitting at the computer every night this week for 4/5 hours just trying to work things out. I'm not brilliant using a computer but I'm not bad either. I teach computer studies to a class of 6/7 year old's once a week. I even taught during an Ofsted inspection and got given a good grade for my lesson. Well I'm now going to sit and plan what I need to do for this module before I begin.
